* gradle: swallow android.sdk.channel warnings

* gradle: switch LeakCanary to AndroidX Startup variant

We already pull in the dependency through AppCompat -> Emoji2 -> Startup
so we might as well make use of it.

- Switch away from deprecated compile directive
