Fix downscaling (#2325)
Fixes an issue where uploaded images could significantly increase the
document size. The problem was with calling `downscale` library, which
expect the type to be one of: `jpg`, `png`, `webp`. We were sending the
type with the `image/` prefix. Thanks to @irg1008 for pointing that out.

Use a global singleton for tlstate (#2322)
One minor issue with signia is that it uses global state for
bookkeeping, so it is potentially disastrous if there is more than one
version of it included in a bundle.

To prevent that being an issue before we had a warning that would
trigger if signia detects multiple initializations.

> Multiple versions of @tldraw/state detected. This will cause
unexpected behavior. Please add "resolutions" (yarn/pnpm) or "overrides"
(npm) in your package.json to ensure only one version of @tldraw/state
is loaded.

Alas I think this warning triggers too often in development
environments, e.g. during HMR or janky bundlers.

Something that can prevent the need for this particular warning is
having a global singleton version of signia that we only instantiate
once, and then re-use that one on subsequent module initializations. We
didn't do this before because it has a few downsides:

- breaks HMR if you are working on signia itself, since updated modules
won't be used and you'll need to do a full refresh.
- introduces the possibility of breakage if we remove or even add APIs
to signia. We can't rely on having the latest version of signia be the
first to instantiate, and we can't allow later instantiations to take
precedence since atoms n stuff may have already been created with the
prior version. To mitigate this I've introduced a `apiVersion` const
that we can increment when we make any kind of additions or removals. If
there is a mismatch between the `apiVersion` in the global singleton vs
the currently-initializing module, then it throws.

Ultimately i think the pros outweigh the cons here, i.e. far fewer
people will see and have to deal with the error message shown above, and
fewer people should encounter a situation where the editor appears to
load but nothing changes when you interact with it.

Fix migrations. (#2302)
Fix `instance_page_state` migrations. We discovered this in a file that
a user sent.

I updated the existing migration since it caused data loss. It looks
like we had a few migrations dealing with `croppingShapeId`:
- First we added the prop with the name `croppingShapeId` and value of
`null` (`AddCroppingId` migration)
- We then have a dummy migration, which doesn't change anything
(`RenameProperties` migration)
- We then override the existing value of `croppingShapeId` with an
non-existent property `croppingId`. This clears out the value and leads
to data loss. (`RenamePropertiesAgain` migration).

So we now avoid that by first looking at `croppingShapeId`, but we still
keep the `croppingId` as a fallback. Felt safer this way.

Fix an issue with a stale editor reference in shape utils (#2295)
Fixes an issue where the editor reference in shape utils was not up to
date with the editor returned from `useEditor`. Actually, the whole util
was the incorrect one and was holding a reference to the previous
instantiation of the editor.

This only occurred in dev mode, but could also happen in other cases
where editor is created multiple times. To see the kinds of issues this
causes in dev mode you can do the following:
1. Create an image, crop it.
2. Refresh the page.
3. Select the image, then double click it to enter crop mode.
4. You will not see the cropped area of the image. You need to change
the crop slightly and then it suddenly appears. This is because this
changes props, which reruns the memoized function.

Fix exporting of cropped images. (#2268)
Open this PR in different browsers, and you will see that the svg below
will render differently in different browsers. The svg was exported from
our staging.

Seems like Chrome handles `clip-path` when set via the style differently
than Safari and Firefox. I've reworked the logic so that it now uses a
`clip-path` definition and applies that to the image.

[improvements] arrows x enclosing shapes x precision. (#2265)
This PR makes several improvements to the behavior of arrows as they
relate to precision and container relationships.

- an arrow's terminals are always "true" and are never snapped to { x:
.5, y: .5 } as they were previously when not precise
- instead, a new `isPrecise` boolean is added to the arrow terminal
- when an arrow terminal renders "imprecisely" it will be placed to the
center of the bound shape
- when an arrow terminal renders "precisely" it will be placed at the
normalized location within the bound shape

![Kapture 2023-11-29 at 23 12
12](https://github.com/tldraw/tldraw/assets/23072548/e94e1594-75fa-4c94-86f3-7d911bf25f7f)

The logic now is...
- if the user has indicated precision by "pausing" while drawing the
arrow, it will be precise
- otherwise...
- if both of an arrow's terminals are bound to the same shape, both will
be precise
- if a terminal is bound to a shape that contains the shape that its
opposite terminal is bound to, it will be precise
- if a terminal is bound to a shape that contains the shape that its
opposite terminal is bound to, it will be precise
- or else it will be imprecise

If the spatial relationships change, the precision may change as well.

Note: a previous version of this PR was based around ancestry but that's
not actually important.

fix vite HMR issue (#2279)
This is an attempt at #1989. The big issue there is when `shapeUtils`
change when you're relying on tldraw to provide you with the store
instead of providing your own. Our `useTLStore` component had a bug
where it would rely on effects & a ref to detect when its options had
changed whilst still scheduling updates. Fresh opts would come in, but
they'd be different from the ones in the ref, so we'd schedule an
update, so the opts would come in again, but they'd still be different
as we hadn't run effects yet, and we'd schedule an update again (and so
on).

This diff fixes that by storing the previous opts in state instead of a
ref, so they're updating in lockstep with the store itself. this
prevents the update loop.

There are still situations where we can get into loops if the developer
is passing in custom tools, shapeUtils, or components but not memoising
them or defining them outside of react. As a DX improvement, we do some
auto-memoisation of these values using shallow equality to help with
this issue.

Hot elbows (#2258)
Our ink has kinda homely elbows sometimes. This PR believes elbows can
and should be beautiful.

The way this is achieved is by partitioning the points fed into
perfect-freehand at elbow points, and then rendering each partition
separately.

Doing this naively ballooned the size of the SVG path data so I also did
a tiny bit of refactoring to allow us to use the SVG arc command. At the
same time we are able to easily omit some of the points around the
beginnings and ends of segments thanks to the nature of the corners.

All of this results in an average 13% reduction in SVG path data size
over the current version.

[fix] huge images, use downscale for image scaling (#2207)
This PR improves our method for handling images, which is especially
useful when using a local tldraw editor. Previously, we were only
downsample images that were above the browser's maximum size. We now
downsample all images. This will result in smaller images in almost all
cases. It will also prevent very large jpeg images from being converted
to png images, which could often lead to an increase in file size!

Fix an issue with not being able to group a shape an an arrow. (#2205)
There was an issue with preventing grouping of a shape and an arrow
bound to it.

There was another issue where you had a shape and an unbound arrow
grouped. If you then tried to bind the arrow to the shape it would
ungroup the two.

The underlying issue for both was the same and it goes something like
this:
1. We group the shape and the bound arrow.
2. This reparents both of them to the group.
3. This triggers `registerAfterChangeHandler` cb.
4. This reparents the arrow and it reparents it to the page since we
only have one binding.
5. This then triggers `onChildrenChange` in `GroupShapeUtil` which
removes the group.

### Test Plan

**Testing that you can correctly group a shape and an arrow bound to
it**
1. Insert a shape
7. Insert an arrow and bind it to the shape
8. Select both and group them (use the keyboard shortcut, seems like we
disable the UI for this case).
9. This should create a group.

**Testing that you don't ungroup an arrow when you unbind it from a
shape**
1. Start with a group that contains a shape and an arrow.
2. Bind the arrow to the shape and then unbind it.
3. The group should still be there.

feat: add new prop to force mobile mode layout (#1734)
Adds a new prop to force mobile mode layout, similar to how the
?layout=mobile query param works.

An alternative of having the prop accept a breakpoint number was
considered, but while that provides more flexibility, it's best if
usages of tldraw don't need to know about the internal workings of
tldraw. (e.g. someone might use breakpoint 7 to get the "desktop" mode,
but that won't be reliable when in the future more breakpoints are
added)

Fix printing. (#2177)
Fixes printing. The issue is that SPA added an additional `root` div to
the body and all our elements now live inside of that. The following css
stopped working because of that.
```css
body > * {
   display: none;
}
```

For now I just added a rule to hide the `tldraw__editor`, which should
be a relatively safe thing to do.

We should think about improving this down the line:
1. We should allow the user to tell us about the root of where the
tldraw lives and then target elements based on that (or allow users to
customize the `usePrint` and other similar features)
2. We probably should not append stuff directly to the `body` as we
currently do.

### Test Plan

1. Probably best to test the whole UI to make sure things with
`.tlui-buttons__grid` still render correctly. Things that are affected
by this: UserPresencePicker, ActionsMenu, ButtonPicker (used in style
panel), DoubleDropdown (arrowheads picker), DropdownPicker (Style
panel), Toolbar (overflowing tools).

instant bookmarks (#2176)
this PR does a couple of things when creating bookmarks

- any time a url was pasted it was previously calling `fetch` on the url
to check whether the url is an image that we have cors access to. In
that case we can paste the image itself rather than a bookmark. But
that's gonna be a relatively rare use case, and the check itself seemed
to cost anywhere from 200ms to +1s which is certainly not worth it when
the fallback behaviour (create a regular bookmark) is fine. So i moved
that check behind a url pathname extension check. i.e. if the url
pathname ends with .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .svg, or .png, then it will check
whether we can paste the image directly, otherwise it will always do a
regular bookmark.
- we create an asset-less bookmark shape on the canvas while we wait for
the asset to load if it is not already available. This means the user
gets immediate feedback that their paste succeeded, but they won't see
the actual bookmark details for a little bit.

It looks like this

Remove (optional) from jsdocs (#2109)
This PR removes all mentions of "(optional)" from our jsdocs. This is
for:

* consistency — many of our jsdocs don't mention "(optional)" for
optional parameters. The developer is expected to use the type
definition to find this out. But it's a bit unclear because we use
"(optional)" in many places too.
* docs site — on our docs site, we use type definitions to figure out
what is optional, and what isn't. We use that info to denote optional
parameters. It looks funny having two "(optional)"s on a page. We
*could* strip them, but it's probably better to just remove them at the
source.

prevent hover indicator from showing when pointer isn't over the canvas (#2023)
Before the geometry change, we'd rely on the browser to tell us which
element was hovered, which meant that when the pointer left the canvas
we'd automatically clear the hovered shape.

Currently, we don't know whether the pointer is over the canvas or not -
so we keep showing the hover indicator for the last shape you had your
pointer over.

This diff adds an `isHoveringCanvas` prop to the instance state (true,
false, or null if the current pointer doesn't support hovering) that we
can use to track this and disable the hover indicator appropriately.

and that we should instead use a kind of "disabled" state for editors
that the user isn't interacting with directly. In a page where multiple
editors exit (e.g. a notion page), a developer could switch from
disabled to enabled using a first interaction.

fix text in geo shapes not causing its container to grow (#2003)
We got things sliggghhhtly wrong in #1980. That diff was attempting to
fix a bug where the text measurement element would refuse to go above
the viewport size in safari. This was most obvious in the case where
there was no fixed width on a text shape, and that diff fixed that case,
but it was also happening when a fixed width text shape was wider than
viewport - which wasn't covered by that fix. It turned out that that fix
also introduced a bug where shapes would no longer grow along the y-axis
- in part because the relationship between `width`, `maxWidth`, and
`minWidth` is very confusing.

The one-liner fix is to just use `max-content` instead of `fit-content`
- that way, the div ignores the size of its container. But I also
cleared up the API for text measurement to remove the `width` property
entirely in favour of `maxWidth`. I think this makes things much clearer
and as far as I can tell doesn't affect anything.

Closes #1998

Fix an issue with arrow creation. (#2004)
Fixes an issue with creating arrows. Currently we create an arrow that
has both `start` and `end` handles set to the same point. This causes
`NaN` issues in some of our functions / svg rendering. After this change
we only create the arrow after we start dragging, which ensures the
start and the end handle won't have the same coordinates. This probably
feels the best way to approach it: arrow of length 0 doesn't really make
sense.

fix cloud rendering (#2008)
Fixes #1996

This fixes a few issues with cloud rendering:

- At small sizes the arcs could get kind of inverted after being
mutated, so you'd end calculating the outline using the large arc
instead of the small arc and it would balloon the size of the bounds
(that was what Mitja was seeing in #1996
- While working on the above I noticed that there are some situations
where we were actually supposed to be using the large arc for rendering
the svg paths but we were using the small arcs instead, making the
bounds appear larger than the cloud shape when in fact the cloud shape
was too small.
- I also fixed some other issues related to rendering clouds with tiny
width/height. It now draws straight lines instead of arcs if the arcs
are essentially flat, and it increases the number of lumps when width or
height are very small to avoid certain kinds of weirdness.

Fix text-wrapping on Safari (#1980)
Co-authored-by: Alex Alex@dytry.ch

closes [#1978](https://github.com/tldraw/tldraw/issues/1978)

Text was wrapping on Safari because the measure text div was rendered
differently on different browsers. Interestingly, when forcing the
text-measure div to be visible and on-screen in Chrome, the same
text-wrapping behaviour was apparent. By setting white-space to 'pre'
when width hasn't been set by the user, we can ensure that only line
breaks the user has inputted are rendered by default on all browsers.

Remove focus management (#1953)
This PR removes the automatic focus events from the editor.

The `autoFocus` prop is now true by default. When true, the editor will
begin in a focused state (`editor.instanceState.isFocused` will be
`true`) and the component will respond to keyboard shortcuts and other
interactions. When false, the editor will begin in an unfocused state
and not respond to keyboard interactions.

**It's now up to the developer** using the component to update
`isFocused` themselves. There's no predictable way to do that on our
side, so we leave it to the developer to decide when to turn on or off
focus for a container (for example, using an intersection observer to
"unfocus" components that are off screen).

### Change Type

editing shape should complete.
